Review of The Protein Works Whey Protein 80 Supplement
The Protein Works is a recent brand from the United Kingdom, which starts to stand out more and more with interesting products, such as the case of Whey Protein 80.
This supplement, as the name implies, is a whey protein supplement, in its concentrated form.
It is available in four different sizes, they are: 500g, 1000g, 2000g and 4000g.
In addition, it is available in many flavors, but we will bet on the flavorless version to make this analysis.
The ingredients of this supplement are few, more specifically three, they are:
- Concentrated whey protein
- Soy lecithin
Concentrated whey protein you already know what it is, and if you don't, go through our guide here.
As for Aminogen, it is a digestive enzyme that theoretically will help in the digestion of protein.
We say theoretically because the brand does not mention the amount of Aminogen used in the formula, so we do not know if it is an effective dose or not.
As for soy lecithin, it is an emulsifier.
These are the values presented by the brand on its official website.
In the first column we find the values for a dose / scoop, which is 25 grams, and in the second, the typical values for each 100g of product.
This supplement has a protein content of 82.4%, a very good value for concentrated whey, and superior to many of the protein supplements we have already analyzed.
With this concentration, we have 20.6g of protein for each shake, which after training, comes in handy!
As for the values of carbohydrates and fats, they are within the normal range for a good concentrated whey supplement.
This is the aminogram provided by the brand, and presents the values of amino acids in percentage per 100g of protein.
As the product is not composed of 100% of protein but 82.4%, we took the calculator and calculated the value of BCAA's for each 100g of product.
18.86g of BCAA's for every 100g of TPW Whey Protein 80.
Undoubtedly a very good value!
|Whey Protein 80||Impact Whey||Gold Standard|
|BCAA's / 100g||18.86g||18.77g||18.71g|
So, in terms of quality, this is clearly a very good supplement.
Cost Per Serving
These are the prices of Whey Protein 80 on The Protein Works website, and looking at the last table, we see that a shake of this supplement can cost just 0.32 €, that is, it is cheap!
Obviously, we are going to place these prices next to the same proteins that we used to assess the quality of this product.
|Whey Protein 80 2kg||Impact Whey 2.5kg||Gold Standard 2,27kg|
|Cost Per Serving||€ 0.37||€ 0.31||€ 0.75|
|Total cost||€ 30.07||€ 30.89||€ 58.00|
The low cost of this supplement stands out quite compared to the Gold Standard by Optimum Nutrition, however, compared to Myprotein Impact Whey, is a little behind, since the total cost is practically the same, but with less 500g of product, which is reflected in the cost per dose.
However, it still has a very appealing price.
The Whey Protein 80 from The Protein Works is a very interesting supplement, with a very good protein content for concentrated whey (82,4%), with an impressive amount of BCAA's and a price that will make anyone who is used to paying suspicious. € 50 to € 60 for protein supplements.
Lose a little to the Myprotein Impact Whey in the price as you can see in the review, but wins most of the supplements on the market, as we can see by comparing with the Gold Standard by Optimum Nutrition.
In short, after the Impact Whey it is probably the second best choice in terms of price / quality for those looking for a quality concentrated whey supplement.
