Analysis of the MHP CRE5 Creatine supplement
MHP CRE5 is a product from the MHP brand and is a Creatine supplement.
This supplement is not made up of just one type of Creatine, but five different ones, as the number five indicates in the name.
It is available with and without flavor, and the quantity differs between these two options.
In the case of the unflavored version, each dose is 5g and the packaging is 300g.
In the case of the flavored version, the packaging is 390g, but each dose is 6.5g.
The active ingredients are the same, there are just some ingredients added in the case of the flavored version, to give the aroma.
In terms of the amount of Creatine, they are equivalent, so don't buy the flavored version just because it contains more!
Analysis
MHP CRE5 is a supplement that uses a so-called “Super Creatine Complex”, and it is within this complex that the different Creatines are introduced.
Although MHP reveals the total amount of Creatine used in the formula (5g), it does not reveal the percentage of each.
However, the order of use is: Creatine Monohydrate, Creatine Magnesium Chelate, Creatine HCl, Creatine AKG and Creatine AAB.
So far, the superiority of any of these new Creatines in relation to the classic Creatine Monohydrate has not yet been demonstrated, and theoretically, there are unlikely to be any significant differences.
What changes between these four Creatines in relation to Monohydrate is the molecule used to ?grab? Creatine and facilitate its transport and absorption.
What they all share in common is what matters: Creatine.
What does this mean?
In practice, the results will be similar, and in the best case scenario, if one of them is absorbed more effectively, the result will be that you start to see results sooner, and possibly only use a slightly lower dose.
This is because once your Creatine reserves are full, no matter what means of transport you use, they will not increase any further.
This is just theory, since in fact, there are no major studies that even demonstrate the superiority of the new Creatines.
How to take?
After the 5 days of the loading phase, in which you use 20 grams per day, the dose increases to 3-6g, once a day.
If you do not intend to do a loading phase, start with this dose.
MHP says that it is not necessary to use the charging phase with its CRE5, and in fact, the charging phase is far from mandatory.
The most common number in Creatine supplementation is usually 5g, however, if you are very thin, 3g to 4g is enough to get good results, while if you are heavier, you can use 5 to 6g.
In the case of this supplement, if you choose the unflavored version, use 5g to get 5g of Creatine, or 6.5 in the case of the flavored version, to get the same 5g.
It is important to highlight that supplementation is done every day, that is, nothing to take only on training days.
Assessment
MHP CRE5 is a mixture of several Creatines, and is composed of 100% by Creatine, without other active ingredients.
In theory, it may seem interesting, but in fact, none of these Creatines have yet been proven to be superior to the famous Creatine Monohydrate.
Furthermore, each dose costs 0.65€, which is about five times the price of a Creatine Monohydrate supplement.
Taking into account that the results of this product will most likely be similar to the results of a simple monohydrate, it is difficult to recommend the purchase of MHP CRE5.
If, on the other hand, you want to try a Creatine other than monohydrate, it also doesn't make much sense to opt for a formula that uses it as its main source.
Not recommended.
